Enjoy your personalised candle with care. Read and follow the safety label supplied with your candle before lighting. Follow its specific instructions for wick length, burn duration, spacing and when to stop use.
Before lighting
- Remove packaging, ribbons, lids and loose decorations. Keep the candle’s safety label for reference.
- Check the vessel for cracks, chips or other damage. Do not light a damaged candle.
- When the candle is cold, trim the wick as directed on its label and remove loose wick trimmings or other debris from the wax.
Safe placement and burning
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets, away from curtains, paper and anything that could catch fire.
- Use an upright, stable, heat-resistant surface. Leave clear space above and around the candle and between candles.
- Burn in a well-ventilated room, away from draughts, fans and open windows.
- Do not exceed the burn time stated on the candle’s label or burn down to the base of the vessel. If the label is missing or unclear, contact us before use.
- If the flame becomes unusually high, flickers excessively or produces persistent smoke, extinguish it and let it cool before checking the wick and instructions.
Extinguishing and wick care
Use a candle snuffer where possible. Never use water to extinguish a candle. Check that the flame and any glowing wick are fully extinguished. Allow the vessel and wax to cool completely before touching, moving, trimming or relighting.
Personalisation labels
Keep decorative labels away from flame. Do not add paper, stickers or decorations near the wick or inside the vessel, and do not cover safety information. Store your candle away from direct sunlight and moisture, and avoid scrubbing or soaking personalised labels. If gifting, pass on the safety instructions with the candle.
Delivery and onward gifting
Check your candle on arrival. If the vessel is damaged, do not use it. Contact us with your order number and photographs so we can help. For delivery details, see our Shipping policy.
If posting a candle as a gift, keep it unlit and cool, protect the vessel with cushioning, and use a sturdy box that prevents movement. Include the original safety instructions.
